Trust in the Magic ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/Have you ever thought about having a boudoir photography session but just can’t get yourself to book a shoot? Is there something deeper holding you back from scheduling a session?
If you found yourself saying yes to these questions… today’s blog post is for you!
Stepping in front of the camera can require us to be a little vulnerable. Trust me, I know it’s not always easy to put yourself out there… Especially if it’s your first photography session! If you’re working with the right photographer, though, you’ll find that having trust between you two will make you feel so comfortable during your session. And spoiler! That’s when the magic starts to happen.
When it comes to boudoir sessions in particular, it especially requires trusting your photographer and feeling comfy around them, too. Boudoir shoots can definitely feel intimate, so as the photographer, it’s so important to create a safe environment that clients feel comfortable being vulnerable in… We have a responsibility to make you feel at home and as comfortable as possible!
Especially when some clients may choose to include either nude or topless shots into their boudoir sessions, it’s essential to let them know that they’re in a safe, private space where they can be free to embrace their body and sensuality.
P.S. - If clients ever do choose to take these types of shots, I don’t share those images for my clients’ privacy. For any sessions and photos that I do end up sharing, I always have consent along with a signed release from my clients. As your photographer, your privacy and comfort are always my biggest priorities.
For this session in particular, my client wanted to take some photos that would really push her out of her comfort zone, so when it came to sharing photos from her session, we made sure to keep some of those photos private. When taking these types of photos, It’s all about consent and trust! Before taking any of these shots, I made sure to share that she was in a private and safe space. When client comfort is made a priority, the studio then becomes a safe space where clients can feel free to embrace their bodies and themselves… and that’s how the magic happens!
As far as the style of her photo shoot, my client shared with me that she wanted to use the curtain set and white sheets, and she complemented these neutral fabrics with her red and black lingerie. She also brought along red bottomed heels which popped and added such a nice touch to the mirror shots we took!
We wanted to keep the whole photography session feeling playful and sexy, so we made sure to have fun throughout the session and shoot with many of the different sets around the studio. We took photos with curtains, the bedroom set, and a mirror. Plus, I included some photos of her silhouette using natural lighting in the background.
Thank you so much to my client for placing her trust in me for this session! It was amazing to shoot with you, and I’m so excited that you now have these STUNNING boudoir photos to look back on. For anyone else considering a boudoir photography session, just remember that my studio is a safe space! I’m here to help create an environment that puts you at ease and also empowers you.
If you’re looking to have a boudoir session of your own, I can’t wait to hear your vision and chat with you. Or if there’s anything holding you back from booking a session… I’m all ears! Can’t wait to help create the session of your dreams and a safe space for you as well.
