The Pursuing Life ~ Vancouver, WA ~ Brand Story Photography Session
/When it comes to my brand story clients, I’ve had SO much fun learning all about them, their work, and their passions. It’s truly one of my favorite parts of shooting a branding photography session!
As much as I love to meet new people and also learn about different businesses that I’m not already familiar with, I switched things up with this shoot…
This time, there wasn’t a need to learn a ton about my client and her work… Why? My client for this session is someone I’m already very close to!
My awesome friend, Meghan Crozier, is the owner of The Pursuing Life. She is a super passionate and thoughtful individual, and I’m proud to be her friend! Meghan writes all about faith deconstruction, justice, and mental health. If you’re open to challenging your preconceived beliefs about faith, The Pursuing Life would be a great blog for you to check out.
If you’ve ever felt the need to think more deeply about your spiritual journey or question your own beliefs… You may have noticed that it sometimes feels like an isolating process! Because of this, it’s so helpful to have a thoughtful, supportive community around you as you work through some of life’s deeper questions.
If you’re looking for this type of community, you’re in luck! Meghan has built an encouraging community on Twitter that you can participate in, and she also sometimes hosts in-person events which are great for meeting likeminded people. At the moment, she doesn’t have any live events scheduled, but definitely check out the Content Warning Event to get a taste of what her most recent event was like!
Meghan also joined together with Cortland Coffey on the Thereafter Podcast… Which I’ve blogged about in the past! It’s SO worthwhile to hear about their experiences and listen to the important conversations they’re having. I especially recommend this podcast if you’ve ever had a change in faith… You’ll definitely gain tons of new insight from Meghan and Cortland as they talk about navigating life after your personal beliefs change.
Because Meghan already shows up so authentically in her podcast and blog, she wanted to make sure that her business branding photos also gave an honest look at who she is. Our goal was to capture photos that looked welcoming, real, and maybe even a little messy… Because faith deconstruction can feel messy at times, too!
When it was time to get started with the photography shoot, we decided to start off with using a desk and computer as props! Meghan also brought along a coffee mug from her favorite bookstore, Powell’s Books. For these shots, we wanted to capture her while in her natural blogging element, so the computer and coffee mug were a must.
Meghan switched outfits, and we then got creative with the location of the shots. We ended up trying out a floral background and a couch… Both definitely had a welcoming, cozy feel to them! Then, we also took some photos in my living room set which has a ton of natural light. The photos taken there were some of my favorites from the session! I love how authentic and candid these shots feel.
Thank you SO much to Meghan for working with me on another set of branding shots! I’m incredibly proud of all the hard work you’ve put into The Pursuing Life, and I’m also proud to call myself your friend. It has been inspiring to see your vulnerability and authenticity shine through your work, and I can’t wait to see everything you continue to do!
