The Bridge Birth Center ~ Vancouver, WA ~ Brand Photography Content Event
/When I take brand photos for local businesses, I usually capture these shots as part of a brand story package! My brand story offerings usually include a pre-session consultation where we come up with a plan and location for the photography shoot. Once the day of the session finally arrives, I make sure to capture headshots, product photos, and candid images of the business owner at work.
For this session, though, things were planned a bit differently…
These brand photos were taken during a special content day for birth workers rather than one of my typical brand story sessions! This content event was definitely a change of pace for me, and it was SO rewarding to spend the day with these compassionate birth workers.
A local birth photographer, Michaela Drew, organized this event at The Bridge Birth Center in Vancouver, Washington. She thoughtfully planned the event with all participants in mind, and she wanted to make sure that everyone could benefit from this content day. All birth workers had the opportunity to have professional headshots taken as well as shots of them at work. Plus, the models were able to walk away with gifted images. On top of this, all photographers involved were able to capture photos to add to their portfolios… mine included!
Before our session, I made sure to learn more about The Bridge Birth Center to familiarize myself with their services and offerings. Let me tell you… The work that they do is SO important!
They offer prenatal care, support through labor and birth, and postpartum care. Their prenatal care includes hour long sessions that allow you to really get to know the birth worker who will be assisting you! Throughout your prenatal care, there will be some similarities to obstetric care when it comes to testing, but the experience with your birth worker will truly make all of the difference.
When it comes to your labor and birth experience, The Bridge Birth Center will have you covered with their freestanding birth center! You’ll be cared for compassionately by your birth worker, and you will even be joined by a second midwife or birth assistant before the birth of your baby. Once it’s time for postpartum care, you will have home visits with your midwife, followed by office visits in the weeks after your child’s birth.
On the morning of our content day, I was really looking forward to the event. Learning about all of the services offered by The Bridge Birth Center was eye-opening, and I knew that I was on my way to meet some knowledgeable, inspiring birth workers (some who worked for the birth center, and others from different practices in the community)!
Once we all arrived and got started, I took many different types of shots! Inside the birth center, I captured photos of the birth workers supporting a parent-to-be in the bathtub. Even though these photos were staged and arranged especially for our content day, they definitely reflect the authentic experience of birth workers! I also captured postpartum photos that feature a family and their newborn baby alongside staff.
We also had time in the day for headshots! I was able to step outside and find some natural, green backdrops to use for the photos. Then, I took professional headshots for any birth worker who was interested. These images look polished but still so full of character, and they’re perfect to use for any type of professional website or branding.
Thank you SO much to Michaela, the wonderful staff at The Bridge Birth Center, and our amazing models. midwives, and doulas for joining us and making this all happen. I’m proud that everyone was able to leave this event with beautiful photos that we definitely can use, and we’re walking away with positive memories as well!
