Studio Set Series: The Bedroom ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

If you've ever taken a peek at my past blog posts, it's likely that you've seen some of the boudoir photos that have been taken in my studio!

In these photos, what have you noticed in the background?

In some photos, you'll see a classic bedroom... but other shots are a bit different and feature a kitchen, bathtub, or shower setup! Each of these different backdrops is a separate set in my studio, and there are TONS of them that I offer to boudoir clients.

Want to learn more about all of the available boudoir sets?

Then these upcoming blog posts are just for you! You can look forward to my new blog post series where I'll highlight each set in a separate post. Plus, I’ll be sharing special behind the scenes information about each one! Even if you’ve had a boudoir session with me before and are super familiar with the sets I use, this blog post series will give you the inside scoop on what it takes to make these sets come to life.

Today's post is the first one in my series, and it's all about my bedroom set!

The bedroom set is a classic, and it’s included in almost every single boudoir session that I’ve shot in the past…

Why?

When we think about boudoir sessions, many of us typically imagine taking photos on a bed while dressed in our favorite lingerie! The bedroom set is usually what clients expect to use when they book a session, so it has become one of my classic sets that we use for every shoot.

Even though every client uses the bedroom set, I can guarantee that the bed setup doesn’t look the same from set to set. As the client, you will be able to personally choose the sheets that you want to go on the bed!

And trust me, I have quite a few offerings… I have satin sheets available in burgundy, silver, peacock blue, dark green, royal purple, black, and gold. I also have white cotton sheets available! If you’re really hoping to use color that I don’t have, just let me know, and I’ll see if I can get my hands on a set of sheets in that color. I’m always happy to expand my selection!

Above the bed, I have a multi-colored floral backdrop that complements the many sheet colors that I offer in the studio! With this backdrop, my goal was to choose a pattern that feels romantic and has some color to it but doesn’t clash with the sheet color that you’ve selected. I’ve been loving how it looks in the boudoir photos from my new studio!

One of the other features I’m really loving in the new studio is the mirror. It’s angled perfectly with the bed, so we can take some fun reflection shots while you’re posing on the bed! We can capture you from the front, or you can even flip over while I snap some mirror shots… And honestly, the tushy shots are usually a client favorite! When taking these photos through the mirror, it’s even more playful and sensual.

Now, let’s talk about you! When it’s time for you to step into the bedroom set, we have a few different options for your look! You can choose to be clothed, topless, nude, or even wrapped up in the sheets… Being all wrapped up in the sheets creates an “implied” nude look. With implied nudity, you’ll be wearing undergarments and won’t be showing any more skin than you would in a tube top swimsuit… But it’ll look like you’re au naturel and enjoying the satin on your skin!

If you like the idea of being wrapped up in sheets for some implied nude shots… You might also like these “underneath the sheets” poses! For these photos, the sheets are draped over you, and we can only see your face, arms, and the top of your chest. We typically use white cotton sheets for these photos! This type of shot is perfect if you’re a fan of white cotton sheets and the implied nude look, too.

Now that you learned a bit more about the bedroom set, it’s time to switch things up and share some information about my special sets… To keep getting the inside scoop on my sets, make sure to check out future blog posts from my studio set series!
