Studio Set Series: The Dressing Room ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/If you decided to create your very own boudoir studio, what types of studio sets would you include?
You can think BIG here... the choice is all yours!
Luckily, we’ve highlighted many different kinds of boudoir sets in my studio set series, so you’ll have some inspiration when making your choice! Lately, we’ve shared more about my special sets like the piano set, the bathtub set, and the shower set. If you enjoy non-traditional boudoir sets and want to offer creative sets to your clients, these are all great picks! You could even include a solid backdrop in your studio to create boudoir photos with more of a fine art style... The options for studio sets are truly endless!
So... what sets are your top picks? Does your list include a dressing room set?
After trying out my new dressing room set and using it with a model and my boudoir clients, I’m here to share my love for this set! Here’s why the dressing room set is on the top of my personal must-have list...
It’s the ultimate multi-purpose space!
When planning out my home studio and deciding on the layout, I knew that I’d have to get creative because I have a studio that’s relatively on the smaller side. Keeping this in mind, I planned to create sets that are versatile with multiple uses! I absolutely needed to have an area where clients could get their hair and makeup done, so to make the most of my space... I thought that we could also use it as a boudoir set!
As if it wasn’t already a multi-purpose space... this area has another use! On top of being a makeup station AND a boudoir set, this area also becomes my client’s private changing room. This space houses my wardrobe options that include lingerie, shoes, jewelry, and tons of accessories!
If you take a look at the photos in this post, you might notice a shelving unit in the corner of the room. What you’re seeing in these shots isn’t just decorative... it’s part of my actual client wardrobe! You can see many of the shoes that are offered to my clients who come in for boudoir sessions.
When it comes to posing my clients in this dressing room set, we have a ton of options. This set includes a vanity with a huge mirror that’s perfect for getting ready, but it doubles as a fun way to photograph my clients! When clients lean on the vanity or sit on top of it, the mirror picks up their backside. This has a VERY cool visual effect... and it also makes a great way to show off your back and booty in boudoir shots!
If my client flips around and faces the mirror instead, I can capture their expressions in the mirror. This creates a candid effect because my clients aren’t looking directly at the camera... It just looks like they’re getting ready while I happen to be photographing them! There’s also a small mirror sitting on the vanity that can pick up a client’s reflection. I love the shots that capture my client’s face in the bigger mirror and the tiny mirror on the vanity, too! If you enjoy the voyeur element in these reflective photos, then the dressing room set would be a great choice for you.
After hearing more about the dressing room set... what do you think? Would you include a dressing room set in your very own studio?
I personally love that this multi-purpose area saves me space and also allows me to capture stunning boudoir shots. The dressing room set is a dream for me as a photographer AND for my clients!
