Studio Set Series: The Kitchen ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/If I told you that I started using a kitchen as a photography set, what kinds of photos do you imagine me taking in that space?
Here’s a hint that might be surprising... I’m not taking family portraits in the kitchen!
Especially during the holiday season, it’s common to spend a TON of time in the kitchen with our families... so I completely understand how you could’ve guessed that I’m using my kitchen set to take family photos.
To get the right answer, let’s think a little bit more about food and how much fun we can have with it! Cooking can be a playful experience, and we can also use the ingredients and kitchen accessories to create a flirty feel in our photos... Think about how fun it can be to use flour and an apron in a photography session!
After reading this, do you have your final answer?
That’s right... I’m now using a kitchen set to take boudoir photos!
Not only is a kitchen the perfect place to take flirty boudoir photos... It’s also a great pick because I have some clients who work as bakers, pastry chefs, and cooks. I have other clients who don’t bake or cook for a living, but they love spending time in the kitchen as a hobby. These clients all have a passion for food, and I love when I’m able to incorporate people’s passions into their photography sessions. That’s why I’m SO excited to be using a kitchen set for boudoir sessions!
Plus, it’s very important to me that clients feel confident and safe when stepping into the studio. When I see that one of my food-loving clients selected a kitchen set for their session, I know that they’ll feel right at home during their shoot! Especially if this client is a first-timer who may have some jitters, their nerves will immediately be calmed when walking onto the kitchen set.
When it comes to choosing the props and poses for the session itself... so much of it is up to you! That’s the beauty of the kitchen set. We can bake and get messy with some flour, which ends up being a TON of fun. In one of my recent model sessions, we brought out flour with a whisk and a rolling pin, too. In the final photos, these props and ingredients make it look like I just happened to capture my model baking. She looks like she’s totally in her element... which is completely true because she’s actually a pastry chef!
In the same session, we also snapped some implied nude shots! If you’re interested in turning up the heat during your session, we can definitely recreate this type of pose for you... All it takes is a cookbook, and you’ll hold it open across your chest to create the illusion that you’re topless.
Looking for another way to keep your kitchen session spicy? We can also include items like honey, whipped cream, or chocolate which make the perfect additions to your shoot... especially if you’re gifting your boudoir photos to your partner. I guarantee that they’ll be in LOVE with the final images that they see! The best part is that you’ll spend the session in my kitchen and not yours, so the clean up couldn’t be easier. You can have fun and make a mess without worrying about cleaning up afterward... That part’s on me!
I’m SO happy that I’m able to offer this kitchen set as an option for you when booking your boudoir session. If you’re a food or pastry lover... This special set is definitely calling your name!
