Turn up the Heat! ~ Boudoir Photography Workshop ~ Phoenix, AZ

Today’s blog post is one that I have been SO excited to share with you!

I recently took a trip to Phoenix, Arizona for a boudoir workshop and content day! Of course my husband tagged along, so when I wasn’t busy with the workshop, it was a ton of fun to tour around the city with him and get to explore Phoenix.

Let me tell you! The temperature in Phoenix was SO high, but believe it or not, it wasn’t even the steamiest thing I came across on the trip… As part of our boudoir workshop, we had a content day. This involved renting out a beautiful Airbnb that had plenty of space with rooms that were PERFECT as boudoir backdrops. I was one of six photographers who were there for the content day, and we all had the opportunity to capture three models as they did their thing and posed around the different areas of the house. They all absolutely brought their A game, and I walked away with some stunning photos!

Carolyn was the first model from our content day, and she absolutely brought the heat! We started off in the bedroom of the Airbnb and took some photos of her wearing a look that definitely had a rock feel to it. Her cowboy boots and cropped t-shirt made for an edgy style that really stood out! During this part of the shoot, I had a ton of fun playing with the natural light that was coming through the room… Check out Carolyn’s black and white photos that have light and shadows over her face! The lighting definitely made for some dramatic shots.

Carolyn then switched into a black look before moving over to the bed and then a couch. I love how the sparkles on her outfit really caught the light and added a fun touch to these shots.

When we were all done capturing those shots, Carolyn hopped in the shower. All of the photos from this set came out looking stunning, but I have to say… The shots where you can see her reflection are some of my favorites! With the way this shower was set up, it was really fun to be able to play with those reflections and unique angles.

Next, I captured some photos of Lauren! We started off in the kitchen, and I love the styling that she used for these shots. She wore a strappy black bodysuit underneath a flannel which added a dressed-down feel, and this overall look perfectly complemented the casual kitchen set we were shooting in! The look felt relaxed, but when the flannel came off, the vibe of the look definitely changed.

Once we were done shooting in the kitchen, we moved over to the bathtub! I take shower photos quite often because it’s a special set that I offer in my studio, but it’s less often that I use a bathtub as a setting… So I was super excited for this part of the photography session!

Lauren’s outfit was stunning and included red floral appliqués, giving a softer and romantic feel to her look. This was perfect for the bathtub shots! I took many photos of her before she even stepped into the bathtub, and the natural lighting was definitely working in our favor. The lighting coming in from the left side created some cool shadows and more contrast!

Finally, I took some photos of Lex outside! She was posing poolside, and I’m so glad we had a beautiful, sunny day for this session… That may not have been the case if this session was in Washington, so I was SUPER grateful to be in Phoenix at the time!

For these photos, Lex wore a simple blue bikini that looked great against the blue water of the pool. Because it was so sunny out, these colors came across so clear and vibrant even in the unedited images! Even though I’m a huge fan of how the colored photos turned out, I also love the black and white photos just as much! In black and white, the movement of the water looks SO cool and comes across as a unique texture. Plus, the black and white adds some contrast to the shots… The light and shadows are really emphasized!

These three ladies absolutely killed it in Phoenix, and I’m really appreciative of them. You all were amazing to work with, and it was awesome to meet you!

Thank you all so much for joining us for this content day! Our boudoir workshop in Phoenix was definitely an experience to remember.
