Toni & John (& Elliot!) ~ Maternity Photography, Vancouver, WA
/Like several others, these parents-to-be booked me MONTHS ago for their maternity and newborn photos. Mama wanted a more casual, laid-back, intimate home session and then stuff happened. And things closed. And sessions needed to be postponed… for who knew how long?
Obviously, maternity photos for this couple was on a BIT of a deadline. So, we postponed their April session for a later date and crossed our fingers HARD that we’d be able to make it happen before little Elliot decided to make her debut.
WE LUCKED OUT!
This mama was DONE at the very end of her third trimester when things finally started to open and I was able to photograph her session. Based on health and safety requirements, we had to adjust and moved her planned intimate home session to one outdoors on a beautifully sunny day! We met at a trail head at Powell Butte Nature Park in Portland and were VERY surprised to find it so busy! We had to work around some families hiking, (and I may or may not have PhotoShopped some people out of these images! lol)
In my pre-session questionnaire, Toni noted that one of her favorite relaxing moments are spent on the porch at their family’s home in Montana, so I tried to channel that calm, natural, tranquil vibe for their images.
After finishing up at the trail head, we got into our cars with the plan of meeting up in the parking lot at the top of the butte… totally my bad, The drive UP the butte was closed and there were cars parked EVERYWHERE along the side roads. Eek! We managed to find parking spots a couple blocks away and hoofed it up to the main gate, but I wasn’t about to make this mama hike up any further, so we ended our session in the middle of the (blocked) road, taking in the big blue sky and having a little bit of fun with the current state of things…
If you’re interested in scheduling a maternity session with me, please reach out! I love outdoor maternity sessions this time of year, and am also now open and able to operate in my studio or in your home as well!
