Studio Set Series: The Solid Backdrop ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/Do you have a specific vision for your next boudoir session that you want to bring to life?
Let’s have some fun, get creative, and take a minute to think about everything you would plan for your next session! Would you have a theme? Bring your own special props? Wear lingerie that ties the whole vision together?
Make sure to keep this vision in your head!
When you book a boudoir session with me, there are some sets we use in the studio that I’ve already created… like the bedroom set and living room set. If you want to create your own set, though, you can select a solid backdrop to start with and build from there!
When you first think about a solid backdrop, it’s definitely plain and probably doesn’t feel personalized to you! But I love to talk to my clients and hear if they have any unique ideas for their session… If you have any interest in a specific theme, it’s SO fun to choose a solid backdrop and use it as a background. The background will be basic, but your selected props, colors, and outfits will add your personality to the set!
Does this type of set sound like it’s up your alley? Then today’s post is just for you!
This is the next post in my studio set series, and you guessed it… It’s all about using a solid backdrop!
When it comes to choosing a solid backdrop, many of my clients choose a black or white background. Why? Either of these colors is perfect to use if you want to create a dramatic and sophisticated fine art shoot! It’s also a great choice because you can choose any color for your lingerie and props… and a black or white background would go perfectly!
If you want to switch up the color, though, you absolutely can! I offer several different color options… and if I don’t have what you want, there’s a good chance that I can get it! There truly are endless options when it comes to the different paper I can purchase for your session. Plus, I could even change colors after your session… Trust me, there’s a lot I can do with some editing magic!
Now that we’ve talked about the backdrop itself, let’s talk more about what we can do with it!
Like I mentioned, we can absolutely bring your vision to life! In the past, we’ve tried out themes that are playful and flirty… and other themes that are dramatic and powerful.
If you’re looking to try out a playful theme, here are some examples… In the past, clients have requested an American theme with fun red, white, and blue accessories! Think outfits with stars and stripes on them, too. Other clients have asked to bring in a favorite jersey, and they totally embraced a sports theme! I’ve also had clients who are interested in pin-up hair, clothing, and accessories… That fun, unique styling would be perfect in front of a solid backdrop!
If you want to go a more dramatic route, I definitely recommend bodyscapes! With bodyscapes, we can get creative with light and contrast while also focusing on your curves! These shots are great if you want to capture your body and appreciate the beauty of your natural shape. Black, seamless paper backdrops are perfect for taking these kinds of photos!
No matter what type of theme you’d like to choose… When booking your next session, just remember that a solid backdrop really allows your creativity to come into play. Together, we can create a photography setting that is 100% personalized to you!
