Celebrating life is always one of my favorite things to do while working as a photographer! There are so many ways that I capture life through all of my photography sessions, but it’s definitely special to capture brand new life, too.

I absolutely loved being able to work with soon-to-be mothers who were hoping to document their labor and birth experience through photos. I had the incredible opportunity to photograph this experience a few times, but then the pandemic happened. Of course, I had to take a step back from offering this service for a bit, but luckily I was still able to do some maternity and newborn photography sessions and get my baby fix!

I’m quite a bit behind with my blogging, but several month back I was so thankful to work with Rebecca and Ian again for a “new family” session in their home in Vancouver with baby Zoey… and, of course, their dog Lucy, too!

During this session, I wanted to make sure to capture photos that Rebecca, Ian, and Zoey would be excited to look back on! I was sure to get some images of Rebecca and Ian holding Zoey while she was wrapped up in her blanket… which was knitted by family members! This was such a special touch.

Zoey’s parents were hoping to get photos of her with her eyes open, but she definitely preferred taking naps to “smiling” for the camera… We were luckily able to get some shots of her beautiful little baby smile!

Out of all of the photos we took, I absolutely love the photos of Zoey holding onto her parents’ fingers. These photos will be incredible memories to treasure especially as she gets bigger and her little hands aren’t quite as little. (They really do grow up so fast!)

Including Lucy in this photography session was another heartwarming touch. I hope that Rebecca and Ian will enjoy looking back at these photos and memories of their growing family for years to come!
