In Full Bloom ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/When you think of my photography studio and the types of boudoir sets I offer… I bet you think of all the classics! Of course we have the bedroom set and living room set. Those rooms are super versatile and used by just about everyone who books an in-studio boudoir session with me. If you’ve ever taken a peek at my blog posts, it’s a guarantee that you’ve seen these sets in action!
Then… We have our special types of sets! Think along the lines of my curtain set, kitchen set, and shower set. You can choose to include one in your session if you’d like, but clients aren’t required to select one of them.
Even though the special sets aren’t used as often as our classic sets, it’s so important (and fun, too!) to get experimental with creating new sets. I always want to make sure that my clients have tons of unique options when booking. Plus, if you’re a repeat client, booking a special set guarantees that your photos will have such a different feel compared to the last photos you took!
I’m always thinking about new types of sets and ways I can practically bring them to life in my studio! It usually takes some DIY-ing, help from a loved one or two, and a model session… And that’s exactly what I did to bring my latest idea to life!
I recently worked on creating a flower curtain to be used in my boudoir studio! I had a vision and a goal, but I definitely knew that extra help was needed to make it happen. Thankfully for me, my daughter is an artist and worked with me to hot glue flowers onto different pieces of fishing line! It was a long process, but we made it happen. (Here it is all set up after we finished working on it!)
Next, it was time to have a model session to try out the new flower curtain. I was so excited once the day rolled around… I couldn’t wait to see how the photos would come out! My model arrived at the studio, and we got started right away with her hair and makeup. Emily Filice did such an amazing job! It’s always so fun to capture my clients and models right after getting their hair and makeup done. The confidence and excitement always shine through on their faces… You can tell they’re feeling themselves!
When we got started and tried out the flower curtain, it was surreal to see it in action! We planned and worked on it for a good amount of time, so it was especially exciting to see it in the studio for the first time. I posed my model in front of a set of white curtains, and the flower curtain was above her while I captured photos. I was thrilled to see that the flower effect came out looking how I planned! The fishing line isn’t visible in the photos, and it looks like there are flowers falling down all around her… Mission accomplished!
Later on, my model changed into different outfits, and we then took more photos using the living room set! Even though the main goal of the session was to use the flower curtain, we wanted to switch it up by adding various poses and backdrops to our collection of shots for the day.
Thank you SO much to my model for stopping in for the day and helping out! I was able to try out the new curtain and also capture tons of behind-the-scenes content throughout the day.
Looking back at the flower curtain photos, I’m so glad that we took the time to create it. I can’t wait to use it moving forward and keep offering all different kinds of special sets to my clients!
