Fun on the Lanes! ~ Portrait Session, Vancouver, WA

Taking a look back at last year… a LOT of changes happened.

Covid happened, businesses shut down, people lost their jobs, and families had to find new and different ways to communicate with each other. This past year had a TON of uncertainty and unknown, leaving people wishing they could find something to do that felt normal.

As businesses and restaurants started reopening, people were finally able to do things that felt normal again by visiting their favorite places and getting back into old routines… in a new, socially distanced way of course.

When my own business reopened after a 3-month closure, I realized that one of those normal things that people wanted to do were photo sessions… As I started getting busier with photography sessions again, I noticed that more and more of my sessions involved bringing families together to capture them doing the things they enjoyed… in their favorite places, too!

One of these sessions that I had was with Amanda! When she booked me for a photo session, she wanted to find a special way to document a place from her childhood where she made tons of amazing memories with her family.

Amanda's grandparents own the Allen's Crosly Lanes bowling alley in Vancouver, and she asked if we could have our session at her grandparents’ bowling alley. She remembered having tons of birthday parties and family celebrations there because her grandparents have owned it for many years. Because of the pandemic, the bowling alley was closed down for a while and had an uncertain future... so Amanda wanted to document it in a special way!

The photo session with Amanda was a very fun experience! We were able to get creative with using different areas of the alley for photos! Between the props, colors, lights, and sounds of an empty bowling alley, this was definitely a unique experience!

Check out some of the photos from Amanda’s session below!

Now, the bowling alley is open again! Because of this, Amanda and her family are able to get back to enjoying an activity they love doing together in a place they love just as much. As our communities continue to reopen, I hope that we can continue to celebrate and spend time with our families in a safe and respectful way. This last year has been very hard for a lot of people, but I have hope that things will continue to get better.

Thank you Amanda for sharing this part of your life with me and allowing me to document you and your special place!
