A New Family Addition! ~ Engagement Session ~ Eugene, Oregon

I always LOVE when I have the opportunity to capture two people in love, but I have to say… This session really hit home and was a special one for me!

Why? These are my brother’s engagement photos!

My brother Rob is going to marry Alysia next summer in Sisters, Oregon, and I truly can’t wait! Alysia is an incredible person and awesome match for my brother. Both of them are creatives at heart and are truly perfect for each other! Knowing how unique Rob and Alysia are, I’m really looking forward to seeing everything they have in store for their big day. I couldn’t be happier or more excited for them!

On top of looking forward to celebrating their special day with them… I am so happy that Alysia is “officially” joining the family. Of course we love Alysia, and she’s already a huge part of our family! There’s something so special, though, about joining together and merging families through marriage and a wedding ceremony.

It’s always exciting when a sibling gets engaged, but this one really means a lot. After capturing Rob’s engagement photos, I’ve now photographed engagement sessions for all of my brothers! I’m the oldest in my family and have three little brothers, so I’ve always loved to capture the important moments in their lives. Not only have I photographed their engagement shots… I captured senior photos for all three of them, too!

For their engagement photos, Rob and Alysia chose Eugene, Oregon as their backdrop. We planned to visit the park in the evening… just in time for golden hour! My goal for the day was to capture shots of them wearing two different looks and also make sure that the evening light would have a big impact in the final shots. There’s something SO beautiful about that golden hour glow!

When we got started with the session, the sunlight was immediately perfect! The shots that we took had a golden hue and complemented the lighter outfits that they chose for the first set of photos. We made sure to take many pictures that highlighted Alysia’s ring. I also made sure to pose them so they’d be looking right at each other, and the sun is absolutely beautiful in these photos!

Before changing into their second look, Rob and Alysia included their dog in the shoot! They adopted a new dog earlier this year, and they knew they wanted to make him part of their engagement session. Rob and Alysia are both big animal lovers, so it made perfect sense to add one of their pets to the photos.

After changing into their next outfits, we had fun with a few different poses! Rob and Alysia laid down on a blanket with their heads together, and I stood above them to capture a photo. While wearing these more casual outfits, they also wanted to include some poses that involved skateboards! Rob has been skateboarding since he was a kid, so it was no surprise that he wanted to add a skateboard to the shots. In the skateboard photos, the sun still looked beautiful and peeked through the greenery in the background. It was the perfect touch!

Looking back at their engagement photos, I’m getting even more excited for their upcoming wedding! To Rob and Alysia… Congratulations! I really hope you love your engagement photos. Your dog and the skateboards were perfect additions to the photos and made the shots feel extra special and personalized.
