Vollstedt Furniture and Design ~ Beaverton, OR ~ Brand Story Photography Session
/As a photographer who has been working with clients for quite some time... it’s SO fun to look back at older photography sessions and see how things have changed! When it comes to any type of portrait session, it’s expected that there will be changes over time because of our ever-evolving bodies and personal styles.
With my brand story sessions, though, I usually notice fewer changes over time. Because these sessions focus on you as a business owner, the services you offer, and the types of products you sell... the photos that we capture are able to reflect the very core of your business. This means that your brand story shots will hold up well over time, and you’ll be able to use them on your website and promotional materials for years down the line!
This was exactly the case for one of my brand story clients, Shea Vollstedt. Shea is an extremely skilled furniture maker who owns Vollstedt Furniture and Design in Beaverton, Oregon. I was lucky to work with him MANY years ago for a brand session. (Fun fact... His was actually the first shoot I photographed out of all of the brand sessions highlighted here!)
Before his session, Shea requested that I capture some behind-the-scenes images of him in his workshop. He also shared that he was looking for some product shots that could be used for marketing purposes... Now, here we are years later, and I’m proud to say that Shea is still using many of the furniture photos I was able to capture for him at the very beginning! It makes me so happy to see that he’s getting a TON of value out of his brand session, even years after the shoot.
Thinking back to the day of our session, I remember picking up my camera and immediately capturing photos of him working in the studio! I also recall that Shea wanted these behind-the-scenes photos to reflect who he was as a person and woodworker...
And here’s what Shea’s all about! His love for woodworking was initially shaped by his dad, and he later became an apprentice under Gary Rogowski of the Northwest Woodworking Studio. Shea’s time as an apprentice eventually led him to set up a high school woodworking program. Then, he founded his own furniture business! Through it all, Shea was a person of strong faith who focused on telling a unique story through every single piece he made.
These behind-the-scenes photos show that Shea’s a hard worker, thoughtful, and SO committed to his craft... exactly the type of person he is! I’m thrilled that his personal qualities shined so brightly through the branding photos.
Once I was finished with Shea’s action shots, I took some product shots of his finished pieces! Featured here are his Cherry Hall Cabinet and Live-Edge Coffee Table. During the session, I remember capturing them close up and noticing how polished each piece of furniture was! The amount of detail and care placed into each piece was unmatched, and I’m proud that these product photos reflect just how beautiful they were in person.
Thank you VERY much to Shea for spending the day with me and allowing me to capture brand photos for your website! Seeing these photos on your website (even years later) brings such a smile to my face! Plus, I love knowing that my clients are able to get long-lasting value out of our time together.
