Proposal AND a New Puppy?? ~ Engagement Session, Vancouver, WA
/One thing that I love about my job, is that I get a front row seat to so many special moments in my clients’ lives. So, when Joe contacted me about photographing him proposing to his girlfriend, Georgia, I was absolutely THRILLED to have the opportunity!
Joe reached out to me about two months before he was planning the big surprise. He and Georgia were scheduled to come down to Vancouver to pick up their new puppy. His plan was to set up a scenario where they stopped on their way out of town to take their new puppy for a “walk”. He had a location in mind from a Google maps search, but coming from the Seattle area, he was not familiar with the park.
A few weeks before their session, I made a scouting trip up to Klineline Pond to check out the area and send Joe some photos and directions for the proposal. But, the first thing that I saw when I got there was a big sign that said: No Dogs. Shoot!
I think headed over to a few other places in town that I thought Joe may like, and sent him a Google drive folder full of photos to check out. We decided on Waterfront Park on the Columbia River.
The weekend he scheduled ended up being quite wet, with weather advisory warnings and several other clients rescheduling their sessions. I knew that a reschedule wasn’t an option for them since they were coming from Seattle just for the day, so I brought a friend to hold an umbrella, and set out!
Thankfully, the rain lightened for Joe and Georgia’s special moment, and we got some amazing shots of Joe down on one knee, and Georgia full of excitement with a beautiful bridge backdrop (and a well timed ferry!)
