Thereafter Podcast ~ Denver, CO ~ Brand Story Photography Session
/Ever since I launched my new brand story offerings, it has been so fun to meet business owners all around the Pacific Northwest! When I’m meeting with local business owners, our photography sessions are typically pretty close to Vancouver… This time, though, I hopped on a plane for our shoot!
I recently flew out to Denver, Colorado to shoot a brand story photography session for Thereafter Podcast. Meghan Crozier and Cortland Coffey are the hosts of the podcast, and they wanted to get together to capture some promotional photos. Because Meghan lives in Washington and Cortland lives in Colorado, they rarely have the chance to take photos together! I’m so happy that I could help photograph some of their time together, and I can’t wait to see their new branding photos in action.
Along with being the co-host of Thereafter Podcast, Meghan is the creator of The Pursuing Life. There, she writes about faith deconstruction, spiritual growth, mental health, and justice. She’s also an educator who’s passionate about creating inclusive spaces for those who have experienced religious harm.
For Thereafter Podcast, Meghan teamed up with Cortland, an de-converted former pastor who still loves to have conversations about faith, theology, and belief. Together, they make a powerful team! In their podcast episodes, they touch on themes and topics that are all related to navigating your life after a faith change. Through these conversations about evangelicalism and healing, Meghan and Cortland hold space for anyone who has been harmed by the church.
Even though I’m already very familiar with both Meghan and Cortland, it was very fun to listen to them put their heads together and also hear about their plans for the future! In February, they’ll be part of an in-person event called The Content Warning Event. This event is taking place in Portland, Oregon and will feature over 20 collaborators who are therapists, authors, speakers, and podcasters. All conversations and panels that go on throughout the day will have a focus on sex, relationships, purity culture, and intersectionality. Between panels, there will also be opportunities to explore Portland with this amazing community! If you’re outside of the Portland area and sad that you’re missing out, there’s a virtual livestream option for you!
After learning all about Meghan and Cortland’s plans for February, I was excited to jump into their brand story session! We started off in a coffee shop, and I started capturing some shots of them once they sat down with their drinks. For these photos, I wanted to make sure to capture their authentic interactions with one another, and these shots definitely have a candid feel to them! The decorative lights in the background also add a very cool effect.
Next, we decided to check out the streets of Denver to find fun murals and cool backdrops that we could use for their photos. We eventually found a bright, abstract wall that was perfect for capturing more candid photos and some headshots! Meghan and Cortland sat down with more drinks, and it was fun to take photos of them interacting with their phones. Plus, we took a few photos of their phones to highlight their social media accounts! Using the bright wall as a backdrop, I then made sure to take photos of them in a portrait style that could be used for their social media, websites, or branding.
Thank you again to Meghan and Cortland for joining me for the day! Overall, we had such a fun day, and it was awesome to see them come together in person. If their podcast topics resonate with you, definitely make sure to check out The Content Warning Event. Even if you’re not local to the Pacific Northwest, you’re more than welcome to join the stream and tune in for the meaningful conversations!
