Back to Basics ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA
/When it comes to boudoir settings and themes, it’s no secret that I can appreciate all different types of sessions.
If you’ve come across some of my recent blog posts, I’m sure you've seen photos from a recent creative session that featured a fun masquerade theme… I’ve also shared client photos from a session where she portrayed different characters with multiple themes… This was SO FUN to shoot!
Even though I love to step outside of the box with my clients to create a specific theme or setting for their boudoir session, I haven’t forgotten about the beauty of a classic boudoir shoot! There’s something SO special about a traditional photography session that takes us back to basics and features a simple backdrop and classic lingerie. This type of session is always classic and elegant! It’s a great pick especially if you’ve never had a boudoir session before or if you’re looking for a session that really highlights your features and beauty.
Do I have a preference when it comes to simple versus themed boudoir sessions?
I truly love all types of sessions, but it’s the gorgeous simplicity of a classic boudoir shoot that really helped me fall in love with boudoir sessions to begin with!
This is why I was so excited to see that my client booked a boudoir session and just requested white cotton sheets! She also let me know that she planned to bring along a classic black lace set with a babydoll slip. Simple white sheets along with classic lingerie is always an incredible combination when it comes to boudoir shoots… This combination complements everyone so well and also highlights each and every client who tries it out!
Before the session, my client also shared that she wasn’t interested in using any of the other “special” sets that I offer. After reading this, I knew that we’d have plenty of time to capture lots of photos during our cotton sheet session. I couldn’t wait!
On the day of the session, we started by taking photos using the living room set, and my client wore her black lingerie with matching black heels for those shots. Her look was sexy and sophisticated! It was great to start off with such a timeless look. My client also brought a set with animal print, and she changed into it for the next set of shots. While we were still using the living room set, she slipped on a red cardigan, and this paired perfectly with her black set! Her classic outfit choices were perfect for our boudoir shoot and the settings she chose.
Then, we moved to the bedroom set and started taking photos using the white cotton sheets. The photos that we took were STUNNING and ended up being my favorites of the day! In these photos, my client’s eyes were piercing and so gorgeous! The simple white cotton sheets really draw your attention to my client’s beauty and her incredible eyes… Choosing the white sheets ended up being the perfect choice! Because we didn’t use any of the other “special” sets in my studio, we really were able to focus on the bedroom set photos… and the results were amazing!
Thanks so much to my client for joining me for a boudoir session! You looked absolutely stunning, and your classic outfit and linen choices were perfect for this session. For anyone else considering a boudoir shoot, I hope this session can inspire you! If you don’t have any particular backdrop or theme in mind, you can always choose to go the classic and simple route. The final photos are guaranteed to be gorgeous… just like these are!
