Let's Hear it for the Grooms!
/I LOVE this article! I ran across it awhile ago and just knew that I needed to save it for later! I absolutely love documenting the look on the groom’s face when he sees his to-be-spouse coming down the aisle! But, if you think it about it, even that moment is more about the bride than the groom… grooms kind of get the short end of the stick on their wedding day, and, sometimes even in the wedding photos!
As a wedding photographer, I try to give both sides equal coverage. And I generally have a lot of fun photographing the guys! This post is all about the grooms!
That’s Trevor, above, waiting for his bride, Sonja to make her way down the aisle to him at the Grant Park Church in Portland, Oregon Trevor pretty much had that perma-grin on his face the entire day. It was so obvious how excited and in love he is!
Brian and Grace were married at the intimate Oaks Pioneer Church in Portland, Oregon on a WARM summer day.
While the girls were inside, finishing up the prep work, Brian and his groomsmen hung outside in the shade, greeting the guests as they arrived.
I loved Brian’s style and charisma. It didn’t seem like anything was phasing him, and this was just any other, beautiful day with his closest family and friends.
By the way, he and his friends are also YouTube “stars” from the early 2000’s! Or, at least, they were among those in my hometown and college. ;)
Jason (below) and Melissa’s wedding was one of my first. I was so excited that they were giving me the opportunity to realize my dream to become a wedding photographer… and their wedding didn’t disappoint!
They were married at the Redgate Vineyard in Independence, Oregon. Their reception was Parisian-themed with Eiffel Towers everywhere! You could tell that Jason was having an amazing time! He gave a beautiful toast, swayed his bride around the dance floor, and laughed (a LOT) with his family and friends. It was a great day for everyone who was there!
Alexander (below) married the love of his life, Natasha, at the Elk’s Lodge in Beaverton, Oregon. But, before everyone headed over to the venue, I got to spend some quality time photographing him and his side of the wedding party, getting ready at the Shilo Inn.
The fountain made for a gorgeous backdrop for his formal portraits. And he was a natural in front fo the camera! I have so many other shots of him out in the garden, and also getting ready in the hotel room… he made it super easy. lol. You can check out more on my blog post about their wedding. And also see the photos of HIM watching his bride walk down the aisle… he was another of my favorite groom expressions!
Nick (above) and his wife, Samantha, was my VERY FIRST wedding! They were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eugene, Oregon, and then celebrated with a reception at the Downtown Athletic Club. I learned a lot from that experience, but one thing that made it fantastic for me was this guy! Such a sweetheart, and such a goofball! You really need to take a look at this recap of their wedding and see some of the other #winning shots that I got of him and his family/friends yucking it up for the camera!
Last spring, I had the pleasure of photographing Calvin and Kelsey’s wedding at Creekside Farm in Harrisburg, Oregon.
I think the best way to describe the way that Calvin looked at Kelsey would be “smoldering”. It was quite obvious how taken with her he was!
I absolutely adore being a wedding photographer, and still have some weekends available this year if you’re still needing someone to document your day! My books for 2020 are also now open, and am excited to see what amazing couples I get to work with next year! Reach out if you’d like to chat more about your wedding photography!
